Drain Sequence...

This question is for the folks that have completely gutted their 190.

Where does the trolling motor battery compartment deck drain, drain to? The bilge?

What about the bait well? And why do I always seem to have standing water in there???

Though I have not "gutted" mine I suspect (pretty much sure) that the forward battery box drain goes to the bilge and the live well drains out the hull in the stern of the boat.

The livewell though is below the water line when in the water yet the drain for the well is not flush with the bottom of the well when out of the water. Thus it is hard to ever get totally dry and many times I will just use another sponge ball to plug up the live well pick up to help save on draft since I rarely use mine.

Putershark, I don't know if your's is equipped but my new 215 has a valve on the intake in the baitwell. I can turn off the intake from inside the tank. If I want it dry I just leave the drain plug out for about an hour and it's bone dry inside. Stick in the plug and it stays dry until I want to fill it.

I wish the 190,s had such a valve and maybe I will add one when I start to rework the tank so that it can hold 2 slot sides Redfish for Tour work

The 190 has a bait well shut off valve just in front of the circulator pump. Remove the 6" access plate on the deck behind the drivers seat and just in front of the bilge access hatch. Reach down there and there will be a brass valve in front of the pump and pull the handle up to close.....I think it is up anyway.
I leave mine open and put the overflow pipe in the drain hole to keep water from coming in...so, always ready to fill up the well quick if I'm getting bait with the cast net.
