Weekend Boat work

We'll, it's in the 30's and raining so here are three things I decided to do this weekend to the ol' boat. First, a quick trip to Academy and picked up an Attwood 500gph pump for $10 and some battery terminal spring clips and some cheap plastic Attwood hose and made a portable emergency bilge pump. Added enough wire to run it directly off the front trolling batteries and be able to toss it in the bilge area with the hose going overboard. Hope to never need it! But good insurance for under $20.
Next, since it is so hard to get to both starting batteries in the starboard transom area, put two Stanley SS door hinges ($12/ea. HomeDepot) on the grey starboard seat and remove the 4 retaining screws (that were originally stripped out at the factory). Now that seat panel just flips forward with ease.....guess I'll do the other side next weenend.....
Ruled in those Whale one way valves into the scupper holes too. So cold the Rule was a good consistancy but the valves would start to sag b/c of very slow set up time. It really needs to be above 40 degrees for the Rule but the finish was the best I have seen.
Anyone else feel like working on the boat this weekend too?

I did, if you consider brushing snow off of the boat cover 'work'. We still have 8"+ on the ground in my yard so I'll be waiting another couple of weeks before I do any work. To do's include:

- Replace impeller
- Replace timing belt
- Replace anodes (internal/external/stern bracket)
- Install my new Icom 402S

Oh, and I owe you guys pics of my upper bunk placement.

We got 70's here in So. Cal.
The only snow we get is in the local mountains.

Nows the best time send the boat in for it's annual check-up.
Boat mechanics usually have a slow schedule about now.

Change engine oil and lower unit oil
Change oil filter
New spark plugs
Check timing
Check water pump
Pull the prop and check the shaft for fishing line
ect....

Last thing I want to worry about during an epic season is engine failure due to poor maintaince.

check-out the (pic) giant squid I caught last sunday 35lbs.

Yep,
The weather has been real rough around here also! I just dug out from (my jeans) and into my shorts from the 2 foot of sunshine we got just today ...

Stay Warm Guys and when you all get cabin fever, jump into the chat room and hopefully we can spread a little sunshine up to you...

Chatrooms

Hey Putershark. Have you tried out the new chatrooms yet? I like this software much better. I'll try to upload a tutorial at some point so folks that might be a little skittish about joining in a chat can see how easy it is.

BTW folks if you haven't voted in our "Specific night to chat" poll please do so. It is in the Announcements forum. So far Sunday night is leading with 50%.

Hey Randy,
I have been logged in and have my profile all set, but I have not had a chance to try it with another memeber. As close as I got was that day you pinged me and I had stepped away and could not hear the "ding" over the vacum cleaner  AND I had forget to mark myself as being away  when you tried to ping me.

Maybe one of these days we will get a chance to check it all out, but yes I do like the interface much better...

Dave
