I towed my '01 186 bay with a 1994 Explorer 4x4 V6 without any problems. It's about 45 miles 1 way to the lake and about 120 miles to the coast and I never had any problems. She pulled to boat just fine. The only thing that I didn't like was that the bow was so high that I couldn't see anything (except for boat hull) through the rear view mirror. I just upgraded to an '01 F150 V8 5.4 super crew. Haven't towed anything yet because of back problems (I'm having surgery on Tuesday) but hopefully will be back on track very soon.
