Wink Looking to buy 190 Bay from Grubbs Marine

I just started looking at the Triumphs and I am impressed. I am looking to buy one from Grubbs Marine in North Carolina. I however live in Southern Alabama. Has anyone had any dealings with Grubbs Marine? If so, what was your impression of them. The motor is a 90 four stroke Yamaha. I don't really care about speed as long as it will comfortable cruise at 25 mph that is fast enough for me. Is this enough motor? I will take all the feedback you can give me.
Thanks

I would buy from RoughWater Marine in Guetier, MS @ 30min from Mobile. They are now, a "factory Master repair dealer". Good people and who I deal with since my dealer went awol.

90 HP is not enough in my opinion and not only will speed suffer, but the engine will work harder to get it moving. Boats don't glide very far when you don't have any power applied (unlike your truck) which should show you just how much work is involved to get a boat on a plane and keep it there. I would not go with anything less than a 115 on a 190 Bay and from the different ones I have been on, I like the 150 the best

I agree with Puter. 115 but better 140 or 150......Check the available engines and the weights too. Sometimes the higher ponies are also lighter....Suzuki. Roughwater Marine is big on Evinrudes so maybe an Etec?

Panama City also has a dealer, not sure which motors they sell. Good boat, good in 3' and less Gulf water and any bay, river or lake. Floats high, unsinkable, make sure your lifetime warranty is activated by calling the factory soon after you get your boat. If you want a nice custom T-top, I'll send you the contact I have in Elberta, AL which custom build a better top for less than factory cost add on.

Too many boats are sold with incorrect trailer set up, do a search on this website for proper "bunk" set up. Do a thorough walk thru. Problem with buying far away is if they have to correct a few things....you will probably be driving back and forth to N.C.
Go with Guetier or PC. Enjoy

Grubbs & Buckshot

Grubbs Marine is a good company. Todd (Buckshot) Johnson is there now and should know his business. He used to work at the factory. You might ask for him by name. I would consider buying closer to home though. You never know when you might need a little something done and no one does it better or faster than where you bought it. 90 hp will get you there, but 115 will work much less and sometimes you need that little extra push to get you over the waves when going out of an inlet. Gas mileage won't change much either. The 150 is nice, but a little overkill and more weight. Good luck, you won't regret the Triumph purchase either way.
Don.

Mark,

I paid $20k even for my 190 bay last October, brand new. It came with a 115 Yammi, bimini top and front deck cushion. Hope that helps...oh, by the way I love it.
