190 Price

Grubbs Marine in North Carolina is advertising the 190 Bay with a 90 HP 4 stroke yamaha with aluminum trailer for $16,995. From what I can tell this is a pretty good price. How much extra should I expect to pay for a 115 HP. I'm pretty new at this and really don't know what I should expect to pay, but I'm always looking for a good deal. I live in southern Alabama so RoughWater Marine in Goutier, MS is only about 45 minutes away but their original price with the 115 HP & trailer was about $22,500. I would rather buy locally but for a few thousand dolars I would drive to N.C.. Grubbs Marine did tell be they would meet me in Atlanta for only about $300. I thought that would be a good deal. I would appreciate any input and ideas on what a good price would be

Thanks for your help
Mark

Price sounds good, make sure it is not a Q2 and recieves the lifetime warranty(also ask about motor warranty). Call them and see if they would put a bigger motor on and for how much.
When I bought mine in 2002, the boat was @$8k, the motor (suzuki 140) @$8k and aluminum trailer was @$2k then I added a bimini top, bow deck pad and Garmin gps/sounder with taxes etc, just over $19k.

Man, I been murdering the Goutier spelling! Been away from the area too long.

Thanks for the info. What do you think of your Suzuki. I have had people tell me that they love them and I've people tell me that they have had trouble getting parts.

My spelling of was wrong. I looked it up it's actually Gautier. I never could spell.

I appreciate the help.

Mark,

I paid $20k even for my 190 bay last October, brand new. It came with a 115 Yammi, bimini top and front deck cushion. Hope that helps...oh, by the way I love it.

Suzuki and Honda were both ranked #1 in owner satisfaction by JD Powers.

Suzuki dealers have increased dramatically in past 3 years, in fact, last time I motored thru Alabama Pass on a Sat afternoon, where @ 100 boats hang out and anchor, every other motor seemed like it was a Suzuki. A year ago or so, you'd only see a couple.

OME Parts can be ordered online at BrownsPoint Marina and at fair prices. Of course you can get them at the dealer but I do all my maintenance at home, pretty simple these days.

That said, most new motors are going to be much better than they were 10 years ago, the quality and reliability bar has been raised. I wouldn't hesitate to buy Evinude E-Tec, Mercury Optimax Saltwater or Suzuki motors. E-Tecs are usually a little lighter but have to have special "oil", Merc Optimax have been around longest and have had most of their "bugs" worked out and Suzuki's are cheaper than Honda's and just as reliable. If you get a good package don't think Yamaha, Honda, Verado or even Tohatsu is a bad option. Run the motors frequent, treat your gas with Stabil, have the dealer install a fuel-water separator and buy a service manual and do your own oil changes.

We are all here for you brother, many will have your exact boat, options, and motor and can give you a hand when you have a question. See you in the Gulf, Molar
