Inter hull water on a 19 Bay
Following a forum search for inter hull water drains I do not see anything specific to fleet wide inter hull water retention problems on 19 Bays. I see specific one boat problems and problems with the early models.
I have a 2004 Bay and think it may be retaining water ( must be a female boat !). This is based on the fact I believe it is harder to transport and seems to sit heaver on the trailer tires. I did have a problem early on with a miss-drilled front hatch drain that let water into the foam area that was fixed uner warranty. Does anyone know if water that gets inside the center console ,under the gas tank, can get out via "normal" drains? TIA guys.

Water getting into areas under the gas tank, etc will drain back to your bilge. Water entering the "inner hull" area will need to be drained via an inner hull drain plug or 3'rd, lower and middle drain. About 1 inches lower than the two bilge plugs and dircetly in the middle. I drained 5 gallons in a month after install, so only about 45lbs.
Water enters the inner hull via rod holders, screw holes, etc but there probably just isn't enough room for a major issue for most boats. If you are getting water into boat while it is sitting in the water...into the bilge, that has been an issue with "back siphoning" of the bilge pump thru hull hole leaking water backwards into the bilge. A flapper are duck bill is needed to help. I have had good luck with the scuppers being the ball in cage design but that is up for debate. There are numerous previous posts on these topics. Good luck, Molar ![]() |
