Question A 2004 190 Bay in 2007?

Hi Folks,
Just found your site today and perhaps its just in time.
I'm looking at a 2004 190 Bay w/ 115 Yammi and need some help with what appears to be a defect in the hull, before I make a commitment.
On both starboard and port bottom panels about 1/3 rd of the way aft from the bow, there is a concavity running from the keel to the chine which appears as if it could be the result of a considerable impact where the hull material didn't return to its original shape. According to the much touted "sledge hammer" test, this shouldn't be, and, in fact, I've had two dealers tell me that this is the result of shrinkage out of the mold.
I'm wondering if this is simply a routine cosmetic aberration, or something that I should be concerned about.
Supposedly, the previous owner had no problem with this and has traded up to a larger craft.
Hoping to get some advise from Triumph owners before I "pull the trigger" on this one.

Thanks,

CRAngler

Can you get a picture by chance that you could upload? Also I would ask about the lifetime hull warranty transfer. Make sure the previous owner did the necessary paperwork for it to be transferred to you. If the dealer can't get you the warranty I'd pass if it were me.

Almost sounds like another 190 that is setting on a trailer that is "not" supporting it correctly. Several threads and pictures can be found in the 190 section on this issue and how to correct it

I agree with Randy though, if you cannot transfer the hull warranty I would pass on this one

I have a 2004 190 Bay bought new in 2004. I have the same ripple in my hull about 5 feet from the bow on both sides. I have had the trailer mods done with no apparent change. I was told by the dealer it was caused by the mold and cooling process. The boat performs and rides very well. If the boat had a hard impact is would expect to see some impact scars. I have the 115 Yamaha also and am pleased with the performance and economy.

Just a note to say "thanks" for the prompt replies which helped me get a good price on the rig and a continuation of the "lifetime warranty" on the boat ($300 well spent).
I've enjoyed reading the "modification" parts of this site so far, and will probably be using some of them on my craft.

The smiley face is the result of another very satisfactory solution to a potentially scary issue by the Triumph warranty dept.
After the sea trial on the 190 Bay (everything went well on the water), and pulling the boat up on the trailer, I noticed that the drain holes to the forward deck boxes drained what appeared to be about 5 gal. of water. Strange, since no water was taken over the side during the trial and the boxes were dry.
Turns out that the connecting conduit between the bottom of the boxes and the hull had developed a crack which allowed water into the hull. Fortunately, the sea trial was short enough, or the bilge pump was sufficient that we didn't sink or even notice reduced performance.
After contacting my local dealer who contacted the factory, I was told to take the boat to Rockledge, FL to Boaters Exchange who would make the repair. The repair was made (at no cost to me) and my wife and I had a pleasant overnight at Cocoa Beach.
All in all, I have to say that I am quite pleased with Triumph's handling of the issue. They also sent a retro-fit support upgrade for the Triumph trailer adding additional bow support, again at no cost to me.
Now for another question.j
I have been thinking of having a "jackplate" installed on the 190 Bay, but I've heard that this might void the warranty. Has anyone gone this route or know if this is correct?

Thanks,

CRAngler

Jackplates Will Void Your Warranty. The 190 Will Run In Water Far More Skinny Than I Would Want To Be Cruising In
