Mark Yep,
Got one of those puppies on my 190 and love it... Passed on the remote option and just had 2 switches mounted instead, one on the console and one beside the forward engine trim switch. I used the bracket that mounts between the flats jack and the transom to mount the power pole so no mounting holes needed to be drilled. It comes in real handy for 3 different fishing scenarios 1. Plant the pole and put the trolling motor on dealy slow and slowly spin the rig for fan casting a flat. 2. Plant the pole and keep the motor on real slow to keep the bow pointed in a certain wind direction. 3. Rasie the pole up a little and wind drift slowly 20 yeards or so then replant to reposition the rig on the flat which is just a deadly quiet way to move the rig... Now I have not found as much of a use for pitching a lot of docks since most channels are deeper than it can reach and I hear some people also use them as a brakes to stop a rig. I will pass on the that unless I am going real slow, if not the noise of it dragging bottom before it stops can blow out the fish. So enjoy your new toy and you will come to love it as much as I do... Tight Lines !

power pole
Dave,
Thanks for the feed back on both posts. I think the auto pilot is a definite go, the power pole option may have to wait. Did you instal the jack plate as well? We have thought about but were concerned with voiding the warranty? Mark |

Dave
Could you tell me how much the power pole weighs and also how deep will it go. I have a 170 bass that I use for flats fishing and it sounds like a good option if it doesnt weigh very much. I am concerned about exceeding the transom weight restriction. Also does anyone know if the addition of the power pole would void the hull warranty? Dave K ( Sarasota Florida) |

Sorry Dave,
I would have gotten to you sooner on this, but I have / still fighting some health issues and not hitting on all cylinders if you know what I mean The Power Pole http://www.powerpole.com/index.html is a real fat (much pun) 22 pounds and this weight issue everybody worries about, is to keep the decks dry and not a sign of any weakness of either the hull material, or design of the hull. My rig is right at the max weight with all the toys it has and that is why I just had the 2 main ship service batteries moved to the console to help keep the deck dry when I am standing on the rear casting deck, and give me a better balanced running and standing angle of attack. Moving them also makes it a lot easier to service / charge them for sure. Here again, I do not have my Power Pole mounted to the hull (that would be hard on a standard 190 due to the shape of the stern) but your 170 (I can't picture your stern right now) it may not be that much of an issue ? I though would not be without my Power Pole and it is critical to the type of fishing that I do. Matter of fact, might as well leave the rods at home than go without the Power Pole, that is its value to me You are not that far from me Dave so drop me a line and I will be more than happy to show you how mine is installed, besides one never has enough friends to go fishing with  ! Tight Lines!
