Re-thinking the situation, I might take the boat/trailer to a truckstop with scales and see how much it weighs. Thinking anything under 3,300 lbs might be acceptable with the four stroke and full tank of gas and 5 batteries. At last use, the boat didn't sit any deeper in the water than usual but if the lower hull foam is saturated, it might not sit any deeper anyway....it all water right?
Anyone else been thru this? Will truck stops let me weigh the boat? How much do they charge on average? Thanks for any advice, I hope the weight is fine and I can just reseal the spot. Anybody from Triumph or Merritt Marine out there with suggestions? Thanks, Emery |

you got any large grain buying companies that buy farmers grain. they all have scales at them to weigh the grain loads on trucks. another place here in N. C. are county landfills that weigh sanitation/ trash trucks prior to tipping their loads.
regards Robert

Thanks, I'll give you a call Dick after I weigh the boat.....maybe a couple of weeks since I have yet to replace my bent axle and tires. I sure hope that didn't happen due to excessive weight on trailer due to water intrusion into foam. I'll go by a truck stop on my way home and see what the procedure is for weighing.

Spoke to Joe Beerman at Triumph warranty dept, he said I need to get the boat to a Master dealer whom is qualified for repairs. My closest is 512 miles away at Merrit Marine (@9 hour drive).
He told me to sit tight for now and he will see what alternatives I may have to making two 1,024 mile round trips(second being a NC fishing trip!). |

OK, Joe at Triumph has got me set up with ROUGH WATER MARINE in Gautier Mississippi...not too far from the casinos in Biloxi so they will handle the repair. I have been draining the inner hull for two weeks and have gotten about 5 gallons of water out, drip by drip and still dripping.

Made the drive down and took about 10 hours round trip. I showed the fellow at Rough Water Marine the inner hull drain hole I made and that it was almost dry. We walked over to look at the hull crack and heck it was dripping water! Guess they will drill some more holes and seal it all up. They have been a dealer for 3 years and sell mostly 190's and 170's as well as HydraSports line and Evinrudes. They mentioned they had just gotten back from a trip to the Triumph factory and seemed to understand the previous concerns about scuppers etc. Guess I'll have to sit back and wait till they give me a call.

Well, I am concerned with where the crack began. It is right in the middle of the concavity of the bow right across a ridge line, an area which Bay 190 owners have had concerns about before and may be limited to 2002 model. I think a repair will be difficult due to it occuring across a line like that but if it lasts and doesn't re-occur and looks perfect, I can't complain other than having the wear and tear on truck.
