Moby,

I just bought my 2002 190 a few weeks ago. 90 Suzuki 4 stroke, put a Bob's Machine Shop stabilizer plate on it. Took it out this past week in the St. Johns, moderate chop and brisk (10-15) wind and ran 35 mph @ 5000 rpm's with a full fuel tank and 2 adults on board. IMO the fuel economy is worth the extra speed.

thanks for the info ..I went in the suwannee today and tried again ..two fat guys and half fuel..No sinkers..At wot 58 rmps ran 38 mph..trimed to 63 rpm put no real increase in speed....I ffelt that all things considered it really does a great job...I ran about 40 miles and used approx 6gal fuel.. I added the fuel and noted the movement of the gage needle and the position and the end. no real science.....I have had six different boats and still looking for the right one....I have had the same wife 48 years..now there might be the connection...

Sounds as if you trimed it till you lost some bite and that is why you did not feel no real speed increase. Trim to your best speed at WOT and then tell us what your GPS speed and RPM was? Then we will know if you (though it sounds pretty close already) are proped correct Also, what kind of prop is this and how many blades?
