Scupper info.

When I went out to water test my boat yesterday for the first time - water was entering thru one of the scuppers. When I inquired of my dealer - what might be causing this - they informed me that sometimes the screws are too tight, and you just need to loosen them a bit or adjust them. However, in my case - when they examined the scupper in question - they found a tiny piece of silicone that had been causing the leak (preventing a tight seal). After they removed the little piece of silicone - problem solved!
I was thinking about putting a plug on each of the two holes for the self-bailing hull drains. I have heard of people putting them on with a rope attached for quick removal. I would only do this if water intrusion was a problem, which it is not. Those ping pong ball style scuppers really seem to work well. On my old fiberglass boat - with a lot of people or weight in the back -we were always standing in water because the holes in the transom were below the water line.
