Transom Saver

What size of Transom Saver would you need for a 115 Horse on a 190 Bay?

Thanx

This is what I use:

http://www.m-ywedge.com/instructions.htm

The site is self-explanatory. I like it as it does not require mounting to the trailer. So as the boat bounces down the road, the motor hydraulics is not taking licks from the trailer bucking. But I don't really know which is better - trailer mount or transom mount.

Hey, thanks! I have never heard of this but will definately buy one. It absorbs impacts beacuse of the material yet takes up hardly any room. It is about 8" vs. the 28"-32" for a Conventional Transom Saver.

Great looking product!

Now maybe I can get rid of that short cut 2x4 that I wedge between the engine and the bracket.

Thanks for the link!

transom saver

I found a tansom saver at Cabelas that worked on my 00' 186.
The way my trailer/boat is set up a special saver was required,as the standard saver with a u-shaped end would not work as there was no roller in middle on my trailer at rear. (e-z load aluminum)
The one I bought has a 3" angle bracket with a slot in it that mounts to square tubing on trailer.
Works great.

We trailered our boat home from North Carolina using the m-ywedge and we still use it every time the boat comes out of the garage. Just read the instructions and do not use it where wires will be crushed or
damaged.

Remember, a "motor support" is not necessarily a "transome saver". A transome saver takes the wt of the motor and displaces it off the boat usually to the rear of the trailer.
A motor support is a good idea for my situation when the boat is in the water since I cannot use the included motor tilt saver due to the angle of the transome and the steering rod bracket...it will strip the bolts if it is tilted far enough to engage the support. It would take pressure off the hydrolic tilt when sitting overnight in the water.
Out of the water, esp while trailering, the bouncing of @500lbs of 4 stroke on the transome, over time, could possibly create a problem as with any trailerable boat. A transome saver helps to displace the momentum weight of the motor onto anything other than the tansome.
It might be a good idea to use both or even that 2x4 haha.
