Taco Leaning Post (or others)

I have an '03 190 bay and I was thinking of replacing my cooler seat for a leaning post. I like the looks of the Taco products and have seen a few decent looking similar types by doing a search of the forums. Has anyone done this sort of replace with an off the shelf product?

Any notes or comments on an install?

I went with the factory model but like the Neptune and TACO versions too.

I was just a little unsure as the mounting procedure and wanted the dealer to be responsible if anything got drilled into or if the bolts got pulled out of the deck.

I like the back rest alot so no matter what, get a back rest. I never remove mine. Also made an underseat tackle box and the above designs have some storage built in don't they?

The factory version has held up fine, the welds were not first class but haven't failed either.

Do you know if it's thru-bolted or screwed in? I did flip the cooler seat around and did notice that it is simply screwed in.

What did the post cost you without install.

I traded my cooler seat for $100 off the install and the post with backrest ended up being similar to the cost of those offered at Boater'sWorld or BassPro etc.
Best bet would be to ask your dealer or call Dick for current prices.

I just know, with my father and I there are @450lbs sitting high up and leaning back on the post and that's got to be alot of pressure at the floor and on the bolt system holding it down.

Unfortunately, I don't know how it is attached but suspect some plated reinforcement from under the deck may have been used. Again, ask Dick that one.

You won't regret moving to the post, more comfortable, better vis and versitile.
