Floor Panel problems

I bought my 190 bay about 5 months ago, and so far love it. I have ran into an issue with the floor panels (gray long panels on each side of console). They are cracking on the edge. The black seals don't seem to be leaking and the hole through to the bilge would allow any water to stay in there anyway, but it doens't look the best, for a boat with only about 40 hours on it. The only other issues are that one of the trailer lights has a small leak, I'll silicone that up good tomorrow, and that the baitwell pump quit pumping the last time out, but I think that was a plugging issue. Otherwise the boat has performed well, been out to cape Lookout a couple times and have started to find some blues and spanish!

Thanks in advance for any ideas about the floor panels.

What did the dealer say? If you got a cracked panel, that should be a "no brainer" to replace under warranty....I have seen it happen with repeatitively pulling the board up and overtightening the screws into the floor over many years but that wouldn't be normal for most folks.

Got any pics of the cracking on the edges? Is it something you could just smooth over with a file? While the boat is pretty new, I'd still get the dealer involved with a replacement board even if you wait till winter to replace.

My trailer lights are the "open" type, non led and have used the trailer alot and never have had to replace the first bulb. Is yours the newer sealed LED? Think they may have recalled some of the first runs, do a search on this site or call the dealer.

Floor Panels Cracking

My 06 19" Bay was two weeks old when both floor panels cracked. Dealer replaced both of them with no problem and 2 weeks later, I discovered the starboard size cracked again. So its back to the shop again. Its an expensive boat and I'm getting a little tired of things breaking.

I have not gotten it to the dealer yet as it is 1 1/2 hours form my house. The crack is about 1 foot long all the way through the edge where the screws are, because of this I put some washers under the 3 screws in this area to hold it for now. I don't expect any issues with the dealer, just curious if this has happened to others and if there are any ideas that people have done to eliminate or fix it.

I have the LED lights on the trailer also, and have been told that they have had some problems, but that the company is replacing them when one goes bad. I'll also discuss this with the dealer when I get there.

I have the same problem on my 2006 190 bay. The part was ordered and will be put on when I get back to Florida in December. The crack is full length on the left side.

Beradon, Ptrodock, Asun do all of you have 2006 Bay 190's with floor panel board cracks?

Wonder if they just had a bad batch of boards?

I think some people use them to hide "short" fish... LOL my brother-in-law comes up with some creative hiding spots.

It wasn't meant to be open and shut over and over. This might be the problem. (not implying YOU did this, but the previous owner maybe)

Funny, he hid a snapper in his bilge area, and one of them managed to get up out of sight and he forgot about it. He had stink and maggots coming out of every nook and cranny after that... too funny. Just the other day he looked in the bilge and saw a backbone in there from that incident, and that was two years ago.

Yep, Molar, I have a 2006, which I purchased new in January. It has about 40 hrs on it now, and I had never pulled up one of the floor panels until it cracked and I wanted to make sure of what was under it. There are plenty of other places to hide fish if I wanted to.

HaHa, Palehorse, a whole snapper would smell up real nice!

I have pulled and have had factory/Triumph pull them up at least 5 times....and they have to be pryed up too with all the sealant and the black tar. I have only had a couple thin areas where the screws holes are start to crack from tightening the screws down tight......I use a torque drill and know I didn't do it.
By no means do I need to replace the boards due to that.....you guys have splits and structural cracks and those should be replaced under warranty with boats still new. If they would just send them to you, it is such an easy job with a cordless drill. Just remember to seal the screws in with eleastomeric and I like elastomeric better than the black roofing tar Triumph uses. A heat gun will get sealant off easy with a putty knife.

Cracked floor panels

I think they bought (or manufactured) a bad batch of floor-panels. The Dealer thought the screws were to torqued too tight but I don't think so. The panels are made of a material like starboard and they should not be cracking. Once a crack starts, it continues down the entire length of the panel in no time the voids in the hull fill with water. I was carrying around several hundred pounds of water when I had 2 broken panels. My boat is an 06 leftover w/ 22 hours and I've owned it for 6 weeks and 3 panels have cracked so far. Fortunately my triumph dealer is only 1/2 hour away and i store the boat there so its not a big problem getting them repaired but I wondering if this is going to be an on going problem? They've been making this model long enough that the "bugs" should be worked out

I'm real happy with the boat otherwise but if Triumph can't come up with a permanent fix, we're going to have "issues"
