190 bay trolling motor battery box lid bending

When taking off the cover for my first trip out while going to the trolling motor battery box I noticed the lid was sticking up on each end. It is sticking up about 1/2 inch. I know these roplene boats may flex and distort a bit but this seems unacceptible. Did I get a bad lid? Perhaps in the center of the lid there is not enough support and has let the lid sag a bit. I attached a pic of the sides of the lid.

Thanks

Trolling motor box lid

I may be wrong but I don't think hatch covers, lids, floor panels etc are made of roplene. They are made some type of Plastic which should be extremely durable and yours shouldn't have "bowed"even at temps in excess 150*F. I'm sure your Dealer will replace it.

Contact your dealer and ask them to help you with it.

I am not sure of the design of your years model but my 2002's box has a rim 3/4 the way around back to front and then a rim right where the rubber latch attaches, leaving just two spots for battery gases to release.

I can't tell from your picture if that support is present but seems not to be due to the amount of sag in the front.

If that is the case, heat and standing pressure would bow the lid.

Is there a rim in the front?

Yes there is a rim in the front with two spots on each side to let the batteries breath. It looks like the support in the front is about 1/4 inch to low so when the strap is on for awhile it causes the bend in the lid. I will let you know how the dealer handles it. Thanks
