ice in fish boxes
Heres a tip on keeping your ice from melting so fast in the fish boxes.Cut one inch thick foam board found at a lowes or home depot snug fit at the top of the boxes just pop out with finger or a knife when filling with fish or ice,you can use a piece of cardboard as a template to practice. One 4x8 sheet will last a long time.

I do think the insulated lid idea has some merit, but unless it can be done out of some very durable material, it is only going to break apart into a mess and get into your bilge. I choose usually to carry a large kill bag in the front of the boat with around 100-200 lbs of ice depending on the type of trip I am making. After fish are bled, they are quickly iced for premium quality. The fish that comes off my boat is every bit sashimi quality meat by doing it that way.

Bill there is good action on albacore locally by the 181, 182 and some other areas. The fish are moving around, but there is still a lot around. If you need more info, let me know.
