Question Water in the Rod Holders

Not sure how I got my rod holders full of water but it has happened a few times now and I always keep them covered. I stuck my rods in today and water just pushed out it was almost up to the top. I did notice what looked like wet newspaper come out as well when the water pushed out. Has anyone else seen this? Is this a problem? What can be done?

Lightbulb Water in Rod Holders

I have a 210 that has the same problem. I use a turkey baster to keep mine dry.

don't know what year model you have ,but in '01 factory did not install a solid bottom holder but rather ones that had a drain hole out the bottom and taped close. if the tape fails the foam will get wet and add water to the inner hull foam. i once owned an 01 186 bay and cant remember where the holders are positioned on the gunnel, but on my current 01 210cc i was able to pull the holders out ,add a barbed male adapter to the bottom hole and add enough tubing to reach down to where the rod storage holes were in the gunnel and exited the tubing there so all water now runs out on the deck. i'll check the gallery and see if i can see a pic of that area and suggest an option for ya.

On the 190 Bay model (been there, done that) drain holes cannot be drilled and they make it to the bilge. Had Heartland check even with the factory on the subject and no dice

Now the caps on the newer models seem to seal better that let's say the 02 and olders ones and since my boat stays covered all the time, only time I get water in them is while I am washing it.

Wish I had some better ideas...

Water in the rod holders

Its an '03. I keep the covers on so I'm not sure how water makes it in there. Maybe its not sealed as well as it looks.
