Scupper plugs

I have no cover on my boat yet. A lot of leaves, twigs, and pine needles got into my scuppers. I finally got them all cleaned out because I wanted those "ping balls" in the scuppers to form a tight seal and keep water out. Then, I decided to hit Walmart and grab some of those foam rubber practice golf balls to temporarily plug up the holes on the self-bailing hull. However, they appeared to be out of them. So, I wandered around Walmart looking for something comparable. I ended up buying "Nerf Blaster" balls. I tried em' out yesterday, and they worked perfectly.

Yep,
One of my better ideas that I should have patented! Ha-Ha... I also use one to plug up the live well intake at the stern too help keep just that much more water out of the boat to save on weight / draft

Now some would ask why? Simple... Live Bait = Dead Brain

golf ball scupper plug

Even better! I think I bought a 5-pack of balls - I am definitely using one to plug up the livewell intake when it's not in use. It really is a great idea. For years, I have stood in a few inches of water in the back of the boat. A self-bailing hull is great, but having the option is even better.

1 1/2" Winterizing Plug

I have a 2004 190 Bay. I purchased a 1 1/2" winterizing plug from the pool supply, and it works perfect to plug up the live bait well drain pipe, which I place inside the live bait well. My intent is to use the live bait well for storage when it's not being used for live bait. I also found that the plug works well to plug up the holes for the self bailing, so I bought 2 more. I just bought them yesterday, but haven't field tested them yet, but I'm sure it should work as I suspect.

I'm sure it would be a good idea to remove the plugs from the self bailing drain holes when it rains, or when traversing rough seas where water coming over the bow may be a problem. My intent is to plug up the self bailing holes when I'm fishing, as sometimes I get water in the boat, especially when a mojority of the weight is concentrated toward the rear of the boat. The live bait well is not completely water tight, so it would be a good idea to remove the plug when it rains.

Self Draining Deck Issues

Seems to be a common experience with water on the deck on the Triumph 190 Bay. And some good remedies by the owners.

Please, any 195 CC (195 DC) owners; Share your experiences with the on-the-water time and the effectiveness of the self draining scuppers.

Also any water within the hull experience with the 195 hulls?

Plan to move up from 170 but would like to learn as much as I can prior to.....

Jim,
Then you should really post a thread / request in that fourm, and not this one for the 190 bay model for the best coverage

Well I could be out of the park on this, But I personally, do not care much about the scuppers draining properly or not..If fishing, I put my bleeding fish back there, and glad the water does not drain so fast, allows the blood to not be so messing as the water filters in and out. But heck thats just me
