190 Bay with 150 E-tec
The day I water tested my 2008 190 Bay (with a 150 E-tec and a 17" stainless Viper prop) - I recall the speedo hitting 50 MPH. I have yet to check it with a GPS. The boat was virtually empty, but I weigh around 225 pounds and the representative from my dealer probably weighed around 200 pounds. I had never ridden in a Triumph boat until that day. I just knew that I wanted to make sure the boat was not underpowered. The day of that water test - I stopped at a Walmart and picked up two pairs of polarized sunglasses (one brown lenses and the other one-black lenses). I had the extra pair in the front pocket of my shirt, and when the boat was at full throttle - the glasses flew out of my pocket and landed in the water. It was then that I realized that I had a rocket boat. I went with the 150 motor because I am notorious for filling my boat with tons of gear and people at times. I recently went out on a trip with around 800 or 900 pounds of people, an extra deep cycle battery, 2 huge coolers, and miscellaneous gear - and the speedo read 45 at wide open throttle.
Originally, I had concerns over the stats because they served as a barometer of sorts for what I might expect to achieve after I owned the boat. I am no longer overly concerned with exactly how fast the boat goes because I know it exceeds any needs that I would have. I am curious, though - and maybe, one day I'll check it out with a GPS speedo. |

Similar results with a 115 yammie, 42 MPH on gauge and 40 on GPS. Plenty for me, as most of the time I seem to be in rough water and only doing 25 or so anyway. The gas mileage is great and it is extremely quiet, we can talk when running 30 MPH without screaming at each other.

RE 190 Bay speed report
I have a 150 E Tec on my 07 Conditions 9/23/07 WITH: 6 persons on board 1 + ft light chop T Top with T bag Anchors (heavy) Trolling batteries and motor Full bait well Fuel ½ tank Coolers and food, fishing gear Front casting seat up A comfortable ride with above conditions - very dry and only the guys Sitting on the bait well got bounced a little. No spray WOT, fully loaded boat About 6 seconds to plane Using the dealer supplied 14.5 “ x 19 pitch aluminum prop. RPM 5100 Speedo 44 - 45 mph GPS 41.5 mph When I took the boat for it’s first ride. There were 2 people , no extra batteries, etc.. It was out of the hole in less than 3 seconds and was super responsive. I was impressed ( and still am with the E Tec). The Speedo said 52 MPH (no GPS at that time) 53 MPH is probably within reach - if you really need it - maybe no T top and minimum load on board. HOWEVER - I always want to improve the performance. I would really like to hear from any one running a 150 ( E Tec) with SS PROP - PITCH/DIAMETER AND PERFORMANCE. It is a jungle out there - so many props to choose from and what works best???? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Got a 115 now with a 13X19 alumumin prop. With a T-top it tops out at about 38 MPH at close to 6k RPM. Seriously considering up grading to a Yami 150. Would love to top at or near 50 and cruise comfortably at 40.

Not sure where they get their speed from
I have a 2007 190 bay with the yamaha 150 engine. Standard load (3 guys) gear and a full tank of gas, I would be lucky to get the speed up to 43, but it does running a solid 38-40 not too loud and decent on gas. I am not sure how much difference the prop would make, but I am going to give it a shot this summer.
