Greetings, I recently started considering a Triumph 190 Bay and found this site. I fish inland bays and marsh in Louisiana (best fishing in the World by the way) with frequent trips to the Florida panhandle. If anyone has time I could use a little advice:

1) Is there a problem with items secured (screwed) to the Roplene "pulling" out?

2) Is there an issue with hull "warping"?

3) In your area what do you think a reasonable price is for a 190 Bay with a Yam 150 4x ready to fish? I don't know anyone with one of these boats to compare purchase price with.

Thanks for your time.

You have two items I can comment on, but first, welcome to this web site.

You do not mention what items you might want to secure, please try a search on the word “toggler”. If what you are attaching is big and heavy, or something to put your weight on, that is what I would suggest. You might also read the “Article” on “Additions & Modifications to our 2005 Triumph 210”. A lot of togglers were used by the dealer to install some of our “stuff”.

For smaller items, try doing a search on the word “Rule”, which is Rule (Sudbury) Elastomeric Sealant. We use that a lot.

As you might guess, the “Search” feature does work on this web site.

As to warping, to my knowledge that only happens if the boat is not supported correctly when out of the water. Again, try doing a search on the word “Warp”. That should give you a lot of reading material.

Some folks say that the smooth ride we enjoy is a fault. I say it is great for my knees and back. In order to enjoy this ride, I have to support my boat correctly when it is out of the water. If I try to store it like a glass boat, then I am asking for problems. If it sits on a trailer designed for the boat (and I have a non-factory trailer) or a lift with the same specifications as the factory trailer, then it should not have any problems. Go cheap and ignore the factory specs, then it is my fault if I end up with warping. That said, there are some 17-foot Logics (pre Triumph) from the late 1990’s that are still used as rentals that have been sitting on standard racks in a boat storage facility since they were new. They do not show any warping. Go figure.

Good luck with your search, and again “welcome”.

I have had a Bay 190 for 5 years. If you are fishing the canals in LA, I would probably not get a t-top as wind can push you around a bit. I use mine in lakes, bays, rivers and the Gulf as far out as 40 miles when it's 1-2's.

Before you buy used, call Triumph with the hull VIN # and make sure the warranty is transferable as a lifetime warranty is a big selling point.

I have had some screws pull out, in the rear flip top seats/lids/ casting deck. I just replaced with longer fatter screws and no problems since. The newer Bays have a different design so may not be an issue anymore. Definitely not a "problem"

Warping, I just have not seen it. Triumph has improved the trailer bunk schemes to include a "bow" support and they added it to my trailer as part of their warranty.

The price will depend and your haggling ability. I would get a boat with minimal options and add them "out of pocket" as seasonal projects if you are handy with a drill etc. But, that's all up to you$$$$$

Thanks, no t-top for me it gets in the way. I'm looking to buy new so warranty should not be an issue. All indications are these are great boats, but I am considering several makes and models.

Thanks for the imput.

I bought the Bay 190 due to it's versitility and shallow draft. Good casting deck, esp for flyfishing or casting a net. If you plan on going out in the Gulf more often than red/trout fishing the canals etc, the 195, 215 would be best with the v hull.

I spend about half my time offshore and the Bay 190 can handle most anything thrown at it as I have been in it in some bad stuff.
