Dual batteries .....

Those of you that have installed dual batteries on your 190s where did you mount the batteries? Did you use a standard perko switch and if so where did you mount the switch? What batteries did you go with and how do you like them?

anyone installed one of these? http://www.bepmarine.com/Dual-Batter...-180-1464.html

Any other advice or pictures on doing the dual battery setup would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

I have 2 Odyssey AGM (PC 1200) units mounted "inside" my console to help get some weight forward and since they do not vent gas while recharging, I am not worried about the harness getting eaten up from battery acid.

I then have a perko switch mounted on the rear casting deck facing forward in a recessed plastic mounting made just for that kind of switch assy. I recommend doing a search on the words "dual battery" to find other threads posted on this well covered subject.

190bayguy,

If you look in the “Articles” section of this web site, and then open the article “Additions & Modifications to our 2005 Triumph 210”.

There is a description and a picture that closely resembles what you are talking about and why we did it this way.

Good luck.

Mounted two heavy duty marine batteries in starboard transome compartment using a Perko 2 battery switch. (1,2,both,off) Always run in 1 or 2 when possible. Make sure to use tinned copper connector cables to prevent corrosion.

Just remember to wire the bilge pump directly to one battery.

If you have the transome scuppers, you will need to make a platform to sit over the tubing that travels thru the compartments. Pending on the height of the batteries....this could cause you to not be able to use the seat cushions on the flip out transome seats on some earlier models.

can anyone tell me what the dimensions of the foward battery box is?

Also the dimensions of the transom compartment where most mount there starting battery?

Can you fit a Group 31 battery in the transom compartment? or maybe even 2?
