Does anyone with a 190 bay have a problem with there baitwell pump breaker tripping?
My pump works fines when I am sitting still fishing but at least half the time when I go to hit another fishing spot when I stop, drop anchor, go to grab a bait I find the baitwell low on water and the pump breaker has tripped. I am just looking to see if there is anyone else out there that has had this problem before. I have checked all the electrical connections that I could find and they all appear to be good. Someone told me that with the factory installed seacock that the pump now sits just above the water line when up on a plane and that there may not be getting adequate water to the pump causing it to run dry and trip the breaker. When I bought the boat I took it to the dealer and they said they did not find anything wrong with the pump and that maybe I sucked up seaweed into the pump. Yes that could be a rare possibility but not over half the time when up on plane, and I never would notice any seaweed chuncks in the baitwell when I would reset the breaker and turn the pump back on. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

mussrusso do you think that the breaker itself could be bad . maybe the interal parts are lose and when you get up on plan and hit waves the motions of the boat is makeing the braker trip. it sounds like you have try ever thing eles... good luck

2006 Bay. I had a problem with my breaker and replaced it. My pump was full of weeds and was not working. I changed my pump and put in as inline filter. I have to clean out the filter quite often when in skinny water. The intake is in the bottom of the boat.

mssrusso i was reading your thread again and you said that when you reached another fishing hole your livewell was low on water i dont know how your boats livewell is made i have a 215 my livewell has a valve on the inlet pipeing that you can close so the water want come out of the well when you are underway some people put inline check valves and others will pipe the inlet to a point just above the over flow drain. you can do a search by useing livewell and get alot of info and mods. that people have done.it sounds like you might have two problems. as for as your breaker if you can next time you go out wire your livewell to another breaker on your console that you dont use much if it trips it than it not the breaker. but i know a house breaker will get weak and will trip all the time. i dont know if a boat breaker will do the same thing. let us know what you find out.

I also had the same problem went I first got my boat. I ran the pump all the time because I was feeding my bait tank with it, I went up on the amp of the breaker and it has worked fine for over a year now. I checked with someone at the factory first and he said it was OK to do that. I know that doing that and running it all the time will shorten the life of the pump but it keeps my but alive and frisky which catchs more fish.

I checked with the factory to see if they had an idea on this. Here was the response:

I checked and it is in the correct position.
My dealer said they would swap out the pump if I continue to have problems. My concern/question is that they said they now only use 500 or 800 gph pumps. I tihnk the 800 gph baitwell would be a bit strong with the 15 gallon baitwell. I don't want to beat the baitfish up. |
