Removal of seat cushion over livewell

The hinged lower seat cushion over the livewell in my 2008 190 Bay is really a pain sometimes when getting bait. Has anyone tried removing the cushion by pushing out the pin in the hinge? I'm afraid if I take it out I may have difficulty putting it back in later. Has anyone handled this in a different way? Thanks for your ideas and help!

Wade

Wade,
I'm almost embarrassed to tell you what I did to solve that problem.I had a 2004 170CC which was the perfect boat for shallow water flounder and trout fishing here in SE NC. I liked the fact that I could leave the coushion over the baitwell home or set it aside while fishing. I wanted to move up to the 190 Bay last year but I could not get use to the seat coushion over the baitwell. My dealer who is an avid fisherman said we could remove the piano hinge and use different hinges so I could take the coushion off while fishing. While all this discussion was going on I kept getting in the 195CC and crawling around on it. I kept coming back to that lovely, simple baitwell system that it has. I solved the baitwell problem; I bought the 195CC. That was a very expensive fix!!! All because of that piano hinge on the 190 Bay. Look at some different hinges in the many catalogs that you probably have or look on line at Boaters world etc. There are some hinges that have pull pins in them that you could replace the piano hinge with and just pull the pins out and go fishing. Good luck!!!

The 2002 simply has a slid on/off grooved rail for both. I don't really know what else to call it. Very easy. Guess they "improved" them. haha

I have the same problem with my 190. Actually just spoke to my dealer about it a few days ago. He said I could put on the sliding hinge like the one on the top cushion but that I would have to get it sewed on. I am strongly considering doing that as it is pain to flip up the cushion, hold it on your knee while you lift up the lid to the baitwell then grab bait. I may add a snap on each side also just to protect from it flying off on the highway, just like the top cushion is rigged.

Anyone know where I could buy those sliding rubber/plastic hinges? Could not find them in boaters world or west marine websites.

Thanks

That first option from Fridaysoff just won't get it for me. I took a nailset and tapped the pin out about 3/8" and from what I see it looks like if I remove it then putting it back isn't going to happen. I am considering removing it and just replacing with two shorter pins (one for each side) that may go in and out with ease. I still have to figure out what will work best. If anyone has any good ideas please pass them on. Thanks.
