Smile First Ride on the New Boat..190

I wanted to let everyone on here know that I have made the purchase on the 190 Bay that was in my first post. The family and I went down to Southport on Saturday and took the boat out for its first adventure. When I test rode the boat the pump for the raw water washdown was locked up but was quickly repaired back at Blackbarry Marina. I will have to tell you that this thing will fly with the 150 Yamaha. I had it at 3/4 throttle and 1/2 trim around 5200 rpm and was at 50 on the GPS. I was very impressed with the way that the boat rode. When the family and I went back out after the purchase we went out about 4 miles and trolled around. The seas were around 2 to 3 feet. The boat trolled as expected for its size but much better than the last 21' Sea Fox I was in. We then went back towards the landing and caught a ton of little Spots, Croker, Whiting etc. The boat tows really well with the exception that my Double Cab 4X4 Toyota with the 4.0 V6 and Manual Gear Box averaged 10mpg on the way back. Of course I was at 70 mph the entire way and had 5 people in the truck along with all the other junk that I had along. Anyway just want to say thanks to everyone that helped me out with any questions I had.

Thanks, Jeremy B.

Congratulations Jeremy,
Glad to hear everything went well and you caught a mess of fish on your first outing.

Yea, I will have to say that the more I look at the boat and mess around in it I feel that it will be in the family for a while. I use to buy and sell Bass Boats like trading Baseball Cards. I wonder what kind of distance I should be able to go out with this thing for Kings and such. I guess that at 3.5 mpg I could go around 40 miles out and back with trolling. The seas will have to be really good to attempt this, but I will definatly try.

* I did notice that there was water coming in the self bailing holes at the rear deck when I was sitting still. I guess that the ball was not floating up and closing off the hole like designed???? Also- - - - can I drill a 1/4" hole at the base of each Rod Holder on the Center Consol to allow for draining? They were full of water when I picked the boat up and since it rained all day yesterday and today I'm sure that they are back to full pool ???? Thanks, JB

Ok, just read that I cannot drill holes in them because it will get into the foam/inner hull..... I guess that I will just use the rod or turkey baster trick..... SEARCH BUTTON does work ..

JB, I have ran @ 150nm on what the fuel gauge called 3/4 tank of gas with a Suzuki 140. I bet, though, I didn't have a full 1/4 tank left but havn't tested to see how far the needle goes.
Like down here in the Gulf, your best offshore fishing looks to be @30 miles out but will vary with the seasons and target species, at least in July.
I am the last one to tell you how to fish Southport though as we fished TBOT and got skunked, but my wife couldn't handle the 30 mile run out......being pregnant! Enjoyed "Provisions" though and had a fun time.
Your Bay 190 is real versitile, not too heavy to tow and launch by yourself and can be set up to fish just about anything inshore/offshore....watersports....family cruising/swimming. Make sure it has a swim platform as the kids love 'em.
Have fun, Molar

I have the swim platform already on the boat for this summer. I'm going to fill the boat up and run her all next week to see what I am getting for MPG. I will base this off of my plotted GPS Miles. Thanks for all your info! JB
