What does a 190 Bay weigh?

Hello all,

It been a while since I have posted. I welcomed my 3rd child to the world so I have not had any fishing time. Also I am strongly considering selling my lifted 2005 2500 Chevy Avalance to lower my payments and get something better on gas. I am a GM guy, so I was looking into the Chevy Colorado 4x4 Crew cab........it has a trailering weight / tow of 5,500 lbs.

So what does my boat weigh.....trailer and all? I have a dual battery setup for trolling motor, a Yammi 115, bimini top (sometimes), stereo, 6 fishing polls, and tackle. Boat is a 2005.

Thanks, for the help! I just want to make sure the Colorado would be up to the challenge......and that 5 cylinder would be much better than the 9MPG I am currently getting!

If you want exact weight you could take it down to your local weigh station, it might run you $10-20 bucks. Based on manufacture specs I'd guess its in the 3-3.5k lbs range.

Ya, 4k lbs with everything is probably a safe number. I was thinking 1.8k boat, 0.5k engine, 0.25k gas, 1k trailer (no idea how much they really weigh, no one reports weights on their website) which puts us right at 3.55k.

My 190 equipped much like yours (I have no trolling batteries) weighed 3498 pounds on a certified scale with a half tank of fuel and no extra gear on board.

I got my 2007 recently weighed. I have two engine batteries, two anchors, 3/4 tank of gas, and a bimini top when I got it weighed on a certified scale and it was 3380 lbs. I am guessing with a trolling motor, batteries, ice, gear and tackle it would be around 3725 lbs. I am concerned because the tires are only rated at max load of 1760 lbs per tire which for two tires only adds up to 3520 lbs. I don't really like maxing out any limit with a boat but I guess there is not much I could to to fix this. Maybe there are tires that can carry a larger load?

You should be fine with your tires as long as you replace them when needed.....like cracking, worn out, etc. I have pulled my boat from my home to the Keys several times, which is about 9 hours and I only had 1 blow out and that was one a tire that was aboat 3 years old. I am making it a point to replace the tires every other year.

Thanks for that weigh guess!!

stingray502, somewhat surprised you had a tire go bad so soon. Ours is a 2005 model and so far no signs of problem's.

Guess there can be bad tires manufactured by anyone.

Just hate to go and purchase new tires every 2 years. Counting spare, that would mean 5 new tires plus the cost to have each balanced, etc.

Guess we will just keep doing the best we can at maintaining correct tire pressure etc.

The Chevrolet Colorado is ranked at the top by The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
IIHS-HLDI: Crash Testing*&*Highway Safety

We all need to consider safety, especially a dad with 3 small mouths and a wife to take care of.

As a side note. Being you are a GM guy, the Saturn Vue is rated at towing 3,500 lbs, very highly rated safety wise, and gets decent mileage.
