I wanted captains style seats on my new 190 so i took my leaning post pedistal to a local welding shop and had them cut off 7 inches and build a platform on it to put the seats on it. It seems like a very simple job to add some height to it, the welder just added alum. Pipe to mine where he had to shorten it,he ground the welds smooth. You can tell where he added the pipe because he cannot make the same finish as new pipe but it looks good enough to me. The pedistal comes out real easy with just a power screwdriver, and reinstalls just as easy. Just make sure he knows he has to maintain the same screw pattern on the base.

Thanks for the response retiredaag, but I don't have the leaning post pedestal, I have an ice chest mounted to the floor with a lid/seat. I determined that I will need to raise the ice chest approximately eight inches higher to put me at a level where I can just look over the windshield.
Ideally, it would be nice if Triumph had a base made of Ropelene that would give me another eight inches in height, better yet, it would have been nice if the boat came with an ice chest another eight inches deeper. Of course, you can't please everyone with one design.

me too
Jack,
I am looking to do the same mod on my 190. PM me if you get this figured out. I want to stay with the flip flop seat because I fish out of the back alot. However I would like to elevate mine higher much like a leaning post seat. Thanks, Lindsay |

BigBird, when I decide what I'm going to do, I'll let you know and post pictures. It may take a while because we've been having a lot of rain lately.

Rain, there really is such a thing???? Who knew??
Replying from Southern California, I am 6'6" and 210#, so I would also like to raise the seat to a more comfortable/usable position. Please add me to the list if someone comes up with the solution. |

Albacore11, I'm only 5'-9" and when I'm sitting on that ice chest lid/seat, I only see above the compass housing by about 5 to 6 inches, and it's about another 8 inches to be able to see above the windshield. I replaced the tinted windshield with a clear windshield which helps a lot, but there are still times were I'll stand up to get a better view of what's ahead of me.
Also, when I'm sitting down, the front fishing seat if slightly in the way. Another 8 inches higher would take care of that situation, also.

Raising the seat
You say wet stuff falls from the sky! Wow, I only wish. I too would like to raise my seat height but I have the newer, framed cooler seat. I don't need as much as some of the other guys but 3" would be about perfect. I was using my throwable cushions for awhile but I slid all over.

Biff, when I had my 150CC, I'd put a Type IV PFD on the seat that raised me up just enought to see over the windshield. I didn't have any problems with it sliding around, but then it's possible it was made of a different material that the throwable cushion you're using.
