Should I transfer the hull warranty?

Hello Everyone-

I am thinking about taking over my friends 2002 190 Bay and have been reading all of the threads. Looks like Triumph does a great job about honoring warranty work on their boats. The only problem is I'm 150 miles away from the closest dealer. The boat doesn't have any major problems listed in the forums, so I'm wondering if it's worth transferring the warranty. Will Triumph cover transportation cost to and from the dealer or even pick up the boat if needed? Gas money back and forth to drop it off and pick the boat up would kill me. That's about 600 miles total!!!! Any input would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks,
Duke

Definitely!

Lifetime has a huge meaning. You could go through several outboards ,cushion sets etc... but know that would be the last hull you would EVER have to buy. There's something re-assuring about that. I doubt they will pay for transportation to and from the dealer. I think you'll notice many people accumulate a list of things and take their boat to the dealer at the end of season etc...

Good luck

Would it be worth it if your bow eye pulled out of the hull and left a gaping hole in the front of your boat? Would it be worth it if you developed a crack in the hull...say in five years? Getting the warranty now is very cheap insurance for the future. A lifetime can be a very long time...a few bucks now could save you thousands in the future. Do yourself a favor and get the warranty. It's cheap insurance.

Tight lines.

Hull Warranty

If the boat is a 2002, then the warranty is no longer transferable. There is a five year limit on warranty transfer for pre-2006 triumph boats. I found this out when I aqcuired my 03 170CC last May. That boat had been purchased in January of 03 so it was just past the limit. Oh well. Hope this Helps

Thanks for the input everyone. My buddy is selling me the boat for $6k - so it's not that huge of a deal. Guess I can alway claim insurance if something major happens. The boat won't be mine until another month or so, but I'll post some picture once I get her all fixed up.

Good deal, virtually anything is repairable these days and for 6k, well, there are bicycles that cost more!
