What do these wires do?

I am a new Triumph 190 Bay owner of a 2003. Upon close inspection upon receipt of the boat, I noticed a red wire attched to what appears to be either a resistor or relay, and a black wire in the center bow storage compartment. Is this a battery hookup for a trolling motor? The wires appear to be going forward towards the bow tip. Should I be concerned about this? Boat seems to be great otherwise. The usual speedo is not working, that's it. Can't seem to find the water entry on the engine for the speedo....

Congratulations on the new 190 Bay! And welcome to Triumphowners.net. Do you have a local Triumph dealer that you can check with on the wire in the storage compartment? I'm almost certain that they ran it for adding a trolling motor but I'll check with the factory for you on that. If the gauge is a Faria you can contact them directly about replacing it if it is defective. You might do a search for "faria" or "guage" to see other posts that might be related to your issue.

Rubber Biscuit, if you are talking about the storage area that is about 3' long and 10" that runs from port to starboard at the bow, that IS a battery storage compartment. Does your vessel have the trim switch in the bow? If it does, there should be a receptacle there as well, that is for the trolling motor plug.

I confirmed with the factory that these wires are for installing a trolling motor.
