Anyone ever mod the floor panels for storage?

The other day while trying to figure out how to run the wires for my new fish finder i removed the screws for the starboard floor panel. It looked like just an open unused space under there. I just wondered if anyone has modified these plates to make storage under there? It looks like it would be just a simple adding a few hinges and a latch. what do y'all think? I saw some pics of a 210 that looked like that's what they have in the floor of it.

Floor Panels

Do a search for "storage" or "Floor Panels" and you should come up with some things. This has been done on a couple of different models.

Just a small word of caution...

The floor connects the hull stringers and adds some stiffness to the hull. While I don't think you will significantly compromise the integrity of the hull by modifying the floor boards, you do run the risk of moving stress to the corners of any areas you cut out and hinge. If you do not properly radius the corners, you will develop cracks in the floor at those corner areas. Even with proper radiusing, you may end up with cracks over time and use.

G/L.

Semi permanent "hidden" places. Sometimes water hides there too.

Not much room for storage, as MolarBoater states it is a great place for water( read as unwanted seepage into bilge and possibly inner hull)

I would/have double the number of screws to hold them down and use a countersink. Then Rule Elastomeric them down. Try not to pull them up too much or they will start to get cracks.

Thanks for the replies. I guess it was wishful thinking. I am going to reseal the one i did pull up.

One question though, should I scrape the black sealant/gasket that is already there or just put the rule on top of it? I'm leaning towards scraping it but what do you guys think?
