Center console poss. full of water?

I have read some other posts referencing water in the center console. My rod holders always have water in the bottom. I thought it might be because they didn't have drains in the bottom so I got out the trusty drill and went to work. 1/4" hole in the bottom of each of them and they still have water in them! Could this be a sign that the console is full of water and needs the "drains drilled in them?" If so where do they put these drains?

If they are holding water....water isn't draining into anywhere. All your rod holders should hold water without drainage. If they are not, they are leaking into your inner hull....probably.

Do you have an inner hull drain? You will have a third transom plug which sits directly inbetween the bilge plugs and @1" lower. You will drill into foam @2-3 inches. Install transom plug.

Don't drill any holes unless you are confident you are not drilling thru foam.

Some have tried to put drains in the rod holders using vinyl tubing that is sealed into place with elastomeric but seems like alot of trouble. Might do a search and see what pops up.
