What is this hole for?

Bought a 190 bay back in March and and stumped as to why I have this pefectly useless hole in my console, under the glove box. Anyone know why or what this is used for? Another glove box perhaps.

Newer 190's have the extinguisher mounted in console. There is an opening on the front of the console for storage and to access the fuses, wiring, and so forth. There is a place for the extinguisher in there.

Yep, that's where my fire ext. is on my 02' 190. Maybe you can mount a tackle drawer in there. I think Fischer53 did that with his 170CC. Take a look at his gallery. Looks well done and useful.

Great place for the fire bottle, if you need it you'll want it quick. Here's how I mounted mine using two straps ... the single strap seems a bit flimsy.

If your 190 already has a fire bottle then you could use this for electronics like am/fm, vhf, etc. The older boats used this space for the fire bottle.

Lightbulb

Or one could always swap it out for another storage box (on my update list) just like the one you already have

Enjoy!
