190 Rear Seat Mod

I got this idea from a member from the old site. I don't remeber his name but I would like to post his idea. Hopefully he will come forward to take credit for his idea. He made hinge pins to allow the rear sets to lift up for access to the storage area. Great Idea

Hey,
It was me!!!!!
I can't take all the credit though. I too remember this from the old site. I did take this deal one further by making the seat bottoms removable. I will gladly send to anyone that wants the drawings for the blocks. I think I have the instructions also. There are pictures in my gallery of this mod.

Those plastic milk crates turned upside down work great. They are easy to cut/modify and are cheap.

Definitly would make the seat bottoms hinge forward with two ss door hindges from Home Depot @$10/ea per seat platform. I have found real problems with the rear seat section keeping screws in the hinges to the hull. Will weld them shut this weekend and use longer screws and try out a pneumatic hinge. Will post later.

Rear seat hinge forward follow-up

Molarboater, you mentioned hinging the rear seat of the 190 so the seat can fold forward to get to the under-seat storage. Did you solve the problem and what finally worked? I want to do this also and thought I would use a ss piano hinge, but did not know if it would hold up and the screws would stay in. Anyone else with a permanent solution I would also like to hear from. thanks, don.
