190 Rear storage Mod

Used plastic covered wire shelf and pvc from lowes to made shelfs to keep items dry and off the bottom of the rear storage bins. Also you can raise the shelfs to clean underneath.

My 190 is a 04 and has the scupper drain tubes in the rear storage areas. I modified two of those plastic milk crates to fit over the drain tubes and create a shelf on each side. At Wally World I found some plastic tubs that just fit. I can store rod holders, tackle boxes, etc. in those and when we get home they can be removed with the contents.

Sounds like a good fix JR. I use 5 gallon buckes in the rear area and 2 1/2 gallon buckets under the seat custion area. I keep the lids with the buckets in case I leave stuff on the boat that I don't want to get wet. Same ideas differant twist.

Use some pressure treated 2x4's to make a flat platform for both starting batteries to sit flat in their boxes. I think the angle was somehow making them fail and leak. In the port side, got a bucket with cast net, cutting board and plastic pitcher for a raw water washdown, cheap mans' version.

Hey Jr,
Take some pictures of your idea and post them if you would please Sir. I would love to see your upgrade also so I can compare it to the others so I can see which would work best for my actual needs

Thanks much!
Dave

JR - I like your milk crate idea. I had thought about the wire shelf, but I get into salt water and the wire would rust and stain pretty quickly.

I like the mod suggestions. My starboard rear is mechanicals and fluids. Battery switch, on-board charger, oil and water sorb for gas tank. I have a fuel water separator just have not installed yet.
Port has wash down hose and brush and the ever present and versatile 5 gallon bucket

shelf issue

I think ou will find that the plastic covered wire shelf will rust very badly in your boat. My reason for predicting this is that I have bought those plastic covered wire shower caddies that that are made the same way, and even though they are fully coated, they eventually rust and the plastic coating just sloughs off. I think a modified cutting board hinged on one side so you can still get under it would work well.

I have a 170 fish and it has always annoyed me that there is no dry storage anywhere on the boat.

Anyway, I am new to the site, but enjoying all the great mod ideas here.

I'm with you. I also use 5gal buckets. Easy to takout or leave in. I sperate items in the buckets with those diposable plastic refrigerator storage containers. Great for pre-riged baits and leaders.
