Triumph in Destin July 4th

Took the wife and daughter to Destin, FL over the 4th weekend. Expected choas and lots of traffic but turned out to be a great trip overall. Other than not being able to keep a trailered boat (or motorcycle,etc) on the premisis of Sandestin Resort this year, we found a gated place 6 miles down the road for $10/night to park boat. Saturday & Sunday, launched out of Joe's Bayou($10) and went out East Pass and trolled @ 2 miles out then paralleling the beach to Ft Walton and back. Everyone got to reel in a fish , plenty of little tuna/bonito...not the same as in the Atlantic...small king macks, spanish macks and peanut dolphin/mahi mahi using cigar minnows on any type of trolling lure you thru out as well as Mann Stretch 30's. Even the Florida Fish and Wildlife patrol said we did well!
Out of all the hundreds of boats around the Pass and in Destin Harbor, we never saw another Triumph, or sharks for that matter considering the recent attacks. The only negative was that the crack in my 2002 Bay 190 hull re-appeared . Talked with Triumph and they have just finished re-training some Master dealer techs and mine was one of them and they will be thickening the foam behind the next hull repair. Hope everyone else had a safe and enjoyable 4th.

crack in 19 bay hull

Sorry to hear of the crack problem. I had my 04 19 bay repaired earlier this year. Front hatch drain was misdrilled allowing water into inter hull.
I got it warranty repaired at ROUGHWATER Marine in Gautier, Miss. They had the $3000 "hot glue gun on steroids". Contact Patty Lear in parts-service or Jon Lawrence in the shop, he does the welding. Call at 228-497-2214.
Doc's Marine in Pensacola was no help at all.

Roughwater did the initial repair. Your area is probably not a stress bearing area so should hold well. Are you prepared for the hurricaine?

Molar Boater, Do you have deflections where you have the hull cracks? You mentioned extra foam to be added on next repair, is the extra foam to bring the hull deflections out to normal contour?

hull cracks

Hey Molar Boater,
Do you have hull deflections where your hull is cracked? You mentioned extra foam to be used on next repair, is this to bring the deflections out to normal contours? I am just woundering if we have a bonafied repair for the hull deflections or do we just learn to live with them. Thanks in advance for any info you can pass along.

Unhappy Hurricane Dennis

Looks like we (the pensacola, perdido key area) is in for another direct hit from Dennis. Just got sheetrock painted and new carpet down 2 weeks ago. Not sure if the doors and windows can stand another cat 3 storm. At least we are on the 6th floor. Boat is up here in Alabama.Thanks for asking. I am like Jimmy Buffet "Ain't no reason for hurricane season" Check out the updates @;

Yep, crack is in the concavity of the bow under the walkway between bait tank and trolling battery compartment. There are a couple of ridges to divert spray etc that it has cracked across. If you percuss the hull there, sounds like a hollow wall. Simply unsupported plastic and if RoughWater marine is there after the hurricaine, I'll get the boat back to them for another repair with additional foam being placed. Good luck with prep PerdidoK. Can you believe I went and bought a generator Wed and they were sold out Thurs since most all had been sent to the coast a month ago. Also bought a window unit AC since we were out of power during Ivan for a week...much hotter right now though. Hope you are buttoned down tight, here we go again....but now Dennis is a cat 4, kinda uncharterd territory.

Left message with Joe Behrman at 9AM today and he called me back at 10:20AM and was sorry to hear the crack came back and Triumph would pick the boat up at my house at their expense and examine/repair at the factory. Details to be worked out tommorrow. That's Triumph service.
