190 Bay CC Front Storage Compartments

Has anyone had any sucess using these compartments as an ice box. I just had a T-top installed to help free up space on the boat and was hoping to place some Kings in there. My ice melts rapidily and it may not be sealed tight either.

Seems to me that I seen a posting on sealing these compartments, but for the life of me I can't find it.

Use my foward port side compartment all the time. Ileave the drain in and use two 5 gal. buckets of ice. Last me well on the average 2-3 hr. trip. Starboard side is my anchor/line locker.

We use the starboard compartment regularly as a fish box. Just like reel dive we put two 5 gallon buckets of ice in, and go for the day, it makes a great ice box, and you want the ice to melt some. Fish store best in a slurry. My hatches do not seal water tight, remember it is foam filled around these boxes, just not the lid. The last trip I did this on it was 90+ all day.

Used stainless steel staples and elastomeric and attached white weatherstripping on the lip of the box where the hatch slightly touches. You will have to adjust the hatch handle "lever" but pretty easy. Use to use the port side for ice box but now instead place a 120qt MaxCold ice chest on top of the trolling motor compartment and works sooo much better as well as keeping ice, bait etc cold for several days with @50lbs of crushed ice.
