190 Bay floor panels

Just a question for you 190 Bay owners. Anybody ever look under the gray floor panels that run on both sides of the console? What is under there? I would be surprised if they are sealed.

the area under the gray panels is there for manufacturing purposes (according to the manufacurer). biggest problem with them is that the panels are not sealed properly on some models (mine was not - '01 186), and water will get in them. you'll know when you hear the water sloshing around. if you hear it, you will have to pull the panels up, drain 'em, put the panels back down and use lots of Rule to seal. also is a good idea to add a few more (about double) screws.

I think the newer models have taken care of this problem.

Water still can get in but now drains into the bilge.

Can this water get to the bilge?

Have water entering the bilge. With 1/2 fuel and two guys in the boat, I get about 1>2 inches of water along the inside rear deck. So much water enters the bilge performance suffers considerably. Could this water be coming from the grey deck boards?

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you have water coming from the grey deck boards. Are these the two on each side of the console? If so how is the water coming from the boards?

Sounds like water is entered the boat thru the scuppers and drainiing into the bilge by way of the grey panels. I to had the problem of water entering the boat thru the scuppers, but fixed it with two inexpensive rubber plugs from local Lowes. When boat is under way I insert the plugs from the inside, when the boat is on the trailer or in the slip, I remove the plugs and put them in the cup holders on either side of the jump seats.

I also removed the grey panels and cleaned the area under them,(there is a drain hole into the bilge) resealed using Rule. Not an easy job, especially for an old grey headed retireee with a bad back.

I too have water entering the bilge. I've found the problem to be water trickling in past the port scupper nut. Fills the compartment then runs into the bilge via 1.5" hole. Happens when I stand on the port platform/seat. It is very difficult to see because the nut is recessed into the hull. This is where I keep all my anchors, rodes and chain so the compartment is pretty full. It's on a long list of things to fix for the dealer. I would've done it myself, but am not sure how to remove the nut to remove the scupper and reseal.
