Replace seat foam?

I was wondering if anyone has replaced the seat foam in a 186 Logic or Triumph 190? My seat's foam is getting whimpy and I'd like to replace it.
What is the normal procedure? What kind of material should I use? Something that doesn't absorb water?
Thanks.......

I upgraded to the factory leaning post and is much more supportive and comfortable. Think only stainless steal staples are used to keep cover on ice chest seat lid so should be easy to replace foam so find a marine upholster place there in hotlanta and either buy the foam or let them do it, probably cheap either way except for the $20 box of staples!

Leaning post

I'm not exactly sure what a leaning post looks likes but I'm sure it's used for fishing. I cruise and scuba dive with the boat. I have a fishing license and a rod & reel but don't have a clue about fishing. [Is there a school for that. ;>)]

When I first got my boat, I had to stand a lot because the windshield was scratched up. [Replaced under warranty]This caused me to get plantar faciou...whatever in my foot. I haven't had a problem with it for quite a while now, thank goodness.
My boat is a 2001 but I purchased it "new" in Winter 2003. So, it was well demoed before I got it. [They put a new 2002 Suzuki 4 stroke 115HP motor on it.] So, the seat was broken in two years ago. But now it feels like it's breaking down. No cush for my tush.

I'll check with some local folks to see where I might get some replacement foam or have someone repair it for me.

Thanks for the help.

We have a stock leaning post on our boat and it is great. Much higher than cooler seat and very comfortable and it is well built.

There are several pictures of the leaning post in the gallery

Astro, having had both seats, the cooler seat sits low and keeps ice not so great so better as storage but good for hiding behind console in a storm, etc. A leaning post/back rest seat sits up high and you can sit and see over the windshield and bow. It allows you to put your own removable 5 day marine ice chest for much colder beverage/food storage. Yes most come with rod holders but those are also used to hold a back rest or other assessories like dive knives, weight belts, pliers, etc.
Where are you diving? I have thought about recertifying and getting my wife cert. so we can trailer down to the Keys or somewhere.

Seat & diving

OK, I looked at the gallery and island_fisher's boat. Nice boat. Now, I see what you are talking about. I see where they moved the deck drains, nice.

I could change the seat but I would loose my storage. I put a softside cooler in the seat cooler and use the rest of the cooler for handy storage.
I bought a new bow nav light like island_fisher's a few weeks ago. I'm tried of dealing with the removable light.

I've been taking some photos of my boat and now I have to figure out how to upload them to this wonderful site.

As for diving, my buddy and I go to Lake Lanier near Gainesville, GA a lot. We know where the golf balls go to die.
We are also going to the FL Keys this November 18th and returning the 27th back in Atlanta. For the wreck diving we'll use dive operators. For shallow diving under 50 feet, we'll use my Logic 186. I want to do some shallow water photography. See: http://www.reefdwellers.com/Photos/L...2004/index.htm
for some examples I took in Bonaire, N.A.
I want to go to Dry Tortugas National Park 70 miles West of Key West for camping and diving. I understand that I will need enough fuel for 200 miles. Safety in numbers, so I'll need some other boat(s) to go along.

Molar, if it's been 2 or so years since you last dove you might want to do a refresher course. If longer than that, you may want to redo the course with your wife. A lot of dive shops give discounts on dive courses if two or more people sign up at the same time.
I noticed that you live near B'ham, AL. I was talking to a buddy of mine the other night, who lives in Pelham about coming over there with my boat. Any recommedations on a lake to see? He mentioned Lewis Smith Lake.
There are a couple of diving quarries we are looking to dive this Summer over there in Alabamie.

I saw on a PBS station about some reef/wreck diving East of the Altamaha River out in the Atlantic off the coast of GA. The river is just North of Burnswick, GA. They were also talking about the good fishing there too.

Thanks to the both of you for the info.

Yeh the quarry in Pelham is neat and has some pretty big fish in there too. Smith Lake is the cleanest probably deepest and coldest lake but still not a lot of visibility. Did my fist dive in the quarry then it was down to the panhandle above Panama City to those springs and a night dive. Did my deep water dive on the destroyer off PC, that was 1993. Need to get the computer battery replaced and regulator serviced and ready to go......
