Fuel gauge problem

The fuel gauge on my 2002 190 bay recently stopped working. It worked fine before I left the dock, but during the day it was marking empty and the gas tank was nearly full. I checked the wiring on the back of the gauge, and it looked okay. Is there anything else that I can check? Has anyone else had this issue?

Ask this guy...

This isn't a Triumph-specific issue so he will likely be able to weigh-in on probable causes. He's a really nice tech that always answers questions by posters.

I had the exact opposite situation on my previous boat (Key Largo 160). It read full all the time. It turned out to be a bad sender sensor (I think it was called). I can't tell you where or what it looks like, the dealer took care of it for me.

My 210cc had the same problem. I cleaned the connectors on the gas tank and sprayed it with some anti-corrosion chemicals. It works fine.

Thanks for the advice. Hopefully I'll have time to try and fix it this weekend.

Can anyone assist me in how to access the fuel gauge connections on the fuel tank on my 186 bay?
