Forward Battery Box Drains

In our 190 Bay the forward battery boc had water in the botttom. This is the first time this happened and the water was smooth as glass. Does anyone know how the water got there? It looks like the frain in the bottom is threaded. Does anyone use a plug on the bottom of theirs?

My drain looks like it sits up an inch above the rest of the box. I have 3 trolling batteries in there so it stays covered up, at least until I put something under the middle battery to allow drainage. Drains to the bilge. Water is usually from anything coming over the bow in a "rush" of water but a hard downpour could maybe get water in there too.

I agree. The water in my fwd battery box is not salt water, so it must be getting in from my wash-down or rain.

The water was salt water and we took nothing over the bow. Do you think it could be a leak? Can water run from the bilge all the way forward to there? We had 4-6" of water in our bilge so maybe this is the problem.
