Buying 195cc (Have question)

Hey all,
In the process of buying a Triumph 195cc with a Yamaha 115 hp outboard. Do you feel that this outboard would have enough power to pull a single skier who weighs 250lbs. If you could share your opinion I would really appreciate it.:

My guess.

I think the engine would pull the skier. But a new skier, just learning, would have more of a problem.

Personally, I would look at least at a 140 hp to a max of 150 hp. Putting less strain on an engine will probably extend its life and minimize the maintenance costs.

My thinking is that sounds a little light. All the 195s I looked at had 140 4/s.I think that boat has a max HP of 175.My prior boat had a max HP rating of 115,the dealer talked me into a 50 saying thats all I'll need.To this day I regret that decission ."It's better to have it and not need it ,then to need it and not have it" JMO Daveh

195 CC Engine

I have the Suzuki 140 on my 195 cc and it certainly doesn't seem overpowered. I wouldn't want anything less than that. The Suzuki is a great engine - quiet, smooth and easy on gas. Easily worth the extra money.

I have a 191 fs with the yamaha 115 and have not tried to pull a skier but it seems to get up to speed with no problems and tops out at 37.5 on my gps. I have a friend that has a ski boat with an i/o volvo penta and he has no problems pulling skiers and his boat tops out at about 34 mph.
