115 Merc Optimax on my 195CC

I think my dealer went with a 15 pitch prop which gets me 37 mph at 5600 rpm. Planes easily from standing start.

195 is comfortable

I bought a 2006 195 with a Yamaha 150 4 stroke. If you want hole shot - you'll love the 150. If you want mid-range accelleration - you'll love the 150. If you want 45 MPH - you'll love the 150.

The fuel economy is teriffic, around 4 mpg if I cruise nice.

I installed a 14 x 17" stainless prop to get 6000 rpm in place of the dealer installed 14 x 19, which only got 5600 rpm.

I put 40 hours on it in 2 months and overall find it a comfortable, capable boat. The t-top is nice except for cast fishing, where it gets in the way. The kids LOVE the forward seating. I removed the aft jump seats and never found a reason to put them back in. She will pull 2 large tubes with 2 teenages on each and still have plenty of power to wipe them out.

My main complaint is that she rides terrible in a chop, where the console shudders. She also feels precariously bow heavy with some kids up front and needs to be balanced carefully side to side while under way at slow speeds.

I think a 115, propped correctly would be entirely adequate, just a little slower.

I've spent the summer here in Long Island Sound and have tried both 15, 16 and 17 pitch props with my my Merc 115 Ultramax. The 16 seems to be best. I achieve 35 statute miles per hour (GPS) and very good fuel economy. This combo get me across the Sound to Mantauk and Plum Gut with a 60 gallon tank in 45 minutes. Not bad, in my view.

I have the 195 CC w/ 115F Yamaha. Came with a 15 pitch, but I overreved and coouldn't get close to 35 mph. Changed to a factory 17 pitch and revs came down to where they should be, hole shot still fine, top speed much more appropriate. During this period, I actually called the factory and spoke to the engineers there and they said definitely the 17 pitch. Oddly, they told me aluminum rather than stainless, as they found the stainless 17 to bog a bit. Can't really understand that , but as AL was cheaper, that's what I run.

i have owned my 195cc with a 150hp yamaha for 10 months now and have put 258 hours on it.....the motor gets great gas mileage(over 4mpg at times) and i have had absolutely no operability issues with it....i would not want anything smaller...good hole shot and comes to plane quickly....top speed of around 50mph...i routinely go out to 25 to 30 miles offshore and it is good for getting there quickly, trolling for several hours, and getting back just as quick
