195CC cockpit drainage experiences?

Anyone with a 195CC. What's been your experience with the drainage of the self-bailing cockpit on your boat?

My boat doesn't seem to drain at all well, with 3 in. of water sloshing around after a rain storm and it takes forever to drain out through the stern floor drains, which I have confirmed are not plugged up. Of course, when underway the water gets sucked out, but it is an annoyance.

When I hose down the boat, I have to stand on my swim ladder to get the water out.

This means when I go out to my moored boat after sitting around for a couple days, there's a pile of dirt in the middle of my boat, left behind after evaporation.

Seems like they didn't put an aft slope on the cockpit floor, and in fact, the boat seems to assume a slight bow-down attitude at rest, which means my fish lockers get a little back flow from the bilge. And, no, I don't have a heavy anchor

Also, there is only a few inches of head between the underwater floor drain outlets and the surface of the floor, so it takes forever to drain at standstill.

This is the only complaint I have about the boat. It really handles well in heavy water, and I love the layout.

As to storage, I have a T-top, with a t-bag, and under-top rod storage to keep them out of the sun. I keep my Canon down rigger in the forward floor hatch. So for me, it's the perfect boat--well, almost perfect.

Just installed Guest 3/3 twin-battery maintenance charger with an external plug connection, so I just plug it in when at the dock overnight.

I to have the same problem after a day of fishing I spend about 45 minutes cleaning the boat and then another 15 minutes trying to push the water into the drains. The same scenario is repeated while at sea using the wash down hose. The only remedy to this I think would be to park the boat on a hill to clean it, which is really not an option. Other then that the boat is an absolute fishing machine.

I haven't been offshore yet with my 195CC, so I can't speak about the effectiveness of the self-bailing cockpit on the water. I guess I'll find out soon enough... But I have had no problems with draining when cleaning the boat. I just use a small pressure washer, so all the water is literally blown out the drains at the stern.

i'm noticing the same problems myself. unfortunately my son and i have been way too busy to use the boat lately, but we do check on it a few times a week (in its slip), especially lately with the weather bringing small showers on and off for the past 2 weeks here up in new england. water seems to just settle into areas on deck and the does not drain into the back drains due to the lack of angle in the floor. the batteries have died twice also within the past 2 weeks and needed charging (could not turn the engine over both times on either #1 or 2 battery). this means that the auto bilge is working, but should that much water be getting into the boat to have the batteries die twice?? granted it has rained on and off during that period, and the boat is in a slip, but i've never had that extreme of a problem in all my years of boating. and does anyone's front-center storage box fill with water? thanks in advance for any input.

ROBO 714,
Do you have any heavy items stored in the front of your boat to cause it to sit "bow down" in the water? I have a 2008 195CC.I do not keep it in a wet slip but it sits fine in the water to where water drains out the back drains. If you could get the attitude of the boat to where it sits stern down the front center storage box should not fill up. When water gets in it the boat will sit lower in the bow compounding the drainage problem. You may want to install an onboard charger to keep your batteries charged stopping them from dying. If you've had a lot off rain all of this may be normal, but I would make sure the drain plug is tight and no water is coming in from thru hull fittings. Hopefully the problems will resolve when you get less rain. Good luck.

Same problem I have found on my 195DC.
Jacking up the trailer with a removable jockey wheel works ok, but it does put loads of stress on the connection to the trailer! I now leave both jockey wheels down just in case the connection slips while I am in the bow doing the washdown ... yes ... my trousers needed washing !!!

Drains the water out very well

fridays,

thanks for the inqury, to answer your question about storage, the only things that are stored in the front fish boxes are my deck mop head, and in my middle front box which sometiems gets water, i keep my dock hook and deck brush/handle. i'm wondering if the boat was designed to be equipped with a heavier 4 stroke which would offset the angle of the boat better than my lighter 2 stroke e-tec. the weight between the two engines are not too too dramatic, but just standing in the back of the boat makes all the difference for draining.

also, getting back to the main topic of this thread, i was washing my boat down today and had a very tough time getting the water to drain out of the back drains on the deck. i think the problem is the fact that the scuppers are doing thier jobs by not letting outside water into the boat, but since they are submerged, the outside water pressure from on the scuppers is causing the water in the boat to back up due to a lack of pressure forcing outward.

ROBO714,
I think you are right on both points, I think the 150HP 4 stroke that I have makes enough weight difference in the stern that my boat drains fine. Also the back pressure on the flappers while the boat is in the water will probably cause a slower drainage situation.
