I really like the new 430 and 530 units that are coming out soon. However, I have contacted Garmin on a release date and have heard nothing. Their website says 1st quarter of 2007, but nothing yet. That should bring the price of the other units down. I may just pick up the 398 if the 430 does not hit the market soon. Pictures would be great if you have the time. I installed a Furuno Navnet system on my last boat so this install should be much easier. I am really interested to see your Perko install and how it looks.

Thanks for the information and good luck fishing,

Bluefin

Garmin

Just talked with the folks at Garmin. The new units 430 and 530 will be out by March 31st. Garmin said the 430/530 introduction will bring the price of the 398/498 units down quite a bit. Also, Garmin said the new technology in the 430/530 is well worth waiting for. So I guess I will be without my sounder until at least March 31st.
