Question Live well control

On my 191, there is a small 2" plastic plate with gold letters and has the words "auto", "empty", "recirc" with no handle or knob right in front of the throttle. Looks like there was something small on the bottom of the plate that is missing. I assume it is the live well control, but the handle or knob must be missing. Does anyone have any details on this unit and the plate? If it is missing a button or handle does anyone know who make them and if it is an easy fix?

Thanks, Bluefin

I would call dick at merrit marine he should have the replacement parts. I had the same problem but it was me who broke it. You might find that the problem is not just the control head. I sugjest that you take it apart and pull the livewell pump out to see if the valve on the pump is stuck or hard to move or if the control cable is stuck. If it is the pump you do not need a new pump but you can just replace the valve control. I fixed mine and it is getting stff again so I have to take it all aprt before I break it again.

Good Luck
Aron

Did you ever get it fixed? Mine was locked up again so I pulled my pump and cleaned it out and put some grease inside the control valve and it works again. I had some and a eel grass in the pump and contol valve from crab season.

I ordered the new lever and installed it. It was still very hard to move the lever so I removed the pump and cleaned the control valve. It moves better but does not work using their lever? I have been using the manual main swtich on the dash which has so far worked O.K. in the few trips needed. Don't know why the control valve will not activate the pump? The pump is O.K. since it works off the dash switch so I can only assume the problem is with the Flow Right unit under the pump.

Did you ever get your bow cover installed? Would still like to see pictures if you have them. Also, did you run your transducer wires for your FF up the middle drain hole from the stern to get it hooked up to the unit on the dash? Looks like that is the best way to get where it needs to be. Nice the weather is finally improving. Makes working on the boat and using it a whole lot easier.

Tight Lines,

Bluefin

The control does not operate the pump. It operates a valve at the botom that controls the direction of the flow through the pump. It will allow the live well to drain or recirc or just fill with no recirc. The power to the pump is switched on the dash with the rocker switch. If youtake the valve off the bottom of the pump you can clean and lube it. Just make shure you note the way you take it off so you can put it back. I have not had the nice weather to work on the boat but it is coming along. (i will send pics when done). As for the transducer I ran the wire up the back and through the same hole as the steering contol in the splash well and into the battery compartment and then under the battery compartment. You should have a string under your dash that goes down to the bow comparment and then the string goes back under the following the wire harness to the battery box. Use the string to pull the transducer wire to the bow and up to your dash. If your string is gne you can use a wire tape. I will try and send pics when I get home.
