191 F/S Questions
Considering purchase of a 191 F/S. Couple of concerns-
Room for Electronics? Seems like the operator's console is very 'tight'. Will need VHF, Plotter, the usual suspects.... Has anyone modified or installed a PRIVATE porta-pottie on one of these boats? (fishing the Kennebec, Penobscot, Sheepscot Rivers, there's nearly always a house looking down in the boat...) Rented a 191 F/S, rode Penobscot Bay a little, and unfortunately got soaked from spray. This is a big negative here in Maine. (cold) Has anyone had any success with a dodger or similar? Thanks! |

Welcome to the site Kingfish. I also fish the Kennebec, Sheepscot, Damariscotta and the New Meadows. I have a 170cc which is great for this. As for the cold I don't have many options but to dress warm. There are a few guys that have put full dodgers up on cc's. You should check the search engine and you will find them. I bought my boat at BFC marine in Bath, great guys. They are moving to Woolwich into the old GMC dealership on route 1. Howie and his son Glen really know there stuff. They sell the etech which is a great motor. I hope to put in soon so I can beat last years March 3rd launch. It's hard to find someone to come with me. Hope to see you out there in your new Triumph {great boats}. Hit a few mud flats and the sand bar at Popham beach with no damage to the boat, a few docks also. Good luck and good boating. Bob

Kingfish,
I'm on the Kennebec, Sheepscot etc. with a 186 which handles the shallows and heavy seas really well and surprisingly dry . Haven't been aboard a F&S yet unfortunately. Elroy, You'll certainly beat us to the water with that early put in date. The Coasties don't break up the ice up here (Richmond/Gardiner) on the Kennebec until the middle of March. I agree with the comments on BFC! just wish Howie were able to retain a presence on the river. We'll be looking for you! Dick |
