A 195DC or a 191FS could be an option for me if the 170DC I have ordered turns out to be to small for my needs, but which HP rating is correct ?

I'm a Max HP kinda guy

If the rating on the boat says 150 that is the correct one. I have not heard of any but the 210/215 being rated for over 150 hp. Well except the defunct Windsor Craft, and now the 235 Which I will never be able to afford.

Thanks for the reply k9reno, i'll never afford a boat that big either ... the 195 is pushing my limits

Here it is again on BoatTest.com

The 195 Center Console is really a lot of boat for the price.

By Captain Keith Burton
...
Our boat was outfitted with a Yamaha 150 horsepower four-stroke outboard. With this engine, we saw a top speed of 45.4 mph, and a quick three-second time to plane, which is plenty of performance for this boat. The hull is rated for a maximum 175 horsepower motor.

If you go to Triumph's website and do the build your boat thing you have choices of engines for the 191/195 and the 175 HP E-Tec is one of them. I think you can get this motor on the boat. I would guess that engine weight as well as hp is one of the limiting factors on engine choice and the E-Tec is lighter.

Yeah Allied,

It's very confusing ... I notified Triumph about that by e-mail and was given a phone number to ring and chat about it. Unfortunatly your 1800 numbers can't be accessed from Australia.

So I e-mailed Triumph my phone number and they forwarded it on to my local Dealer who tells me he's unsure if it's possible or not, but it should be because he found it on their website under the build your own boat thing ...

Anyone in the USA wanna get an answer for this poor wanna-be Triumph Owner-Aussie ?

Here's a guess.

Triumph may be responsible for the weight limit and the r&d of what forces the transome can handle.
The United States Coast Guard certifies the boat for payload/passenger number and has the final word on hp rating for a particular boat.
I am sure there will be some kind of formula to refer too.
The Austrailian Coast Guard may have another way of rating hp for a boat.

I am only guessing, any of you old USCG fellows want to chime in?

Thanks for the help guys!

The dealer here is so new that his first Triumph boat is being fitted up today!

It is Triumph's U.S. website that has the 175hp E-Tec listed for the 195.

If I could call Bryant Hailey at Triumph to find out I would!

He sent me his phone number, 1-800-564-4225 X160 ... but it won't work from Australia.
