trim tabs on a 195 CC...?

I am in the market to install Lenco electric trim tabs on my 195 CC to help in my trips going offshore....I am unsure of needing to buy the 12" width(portion against the hull) by 9" length....this will have to allow for 15" of vertical space above the tab for it to fit......but a 9 " by 12" tab will let me get by with only 11" of headroom...has anybody solved this issue?....At this time I am unable to get to where my boat is stored to take these measurements.....I would appreciate any assistance I could get....Thanks

I saw a post elsewhere here about someone that put the 12 wide tabs on 215cc and he said it was overkill and that the 9's would be plenty. Do a search on trim tabs. Also there is a pole going on now (6 pages worth) about trim tabs. Here is the link Unofficial Poll Trim Tabs on a 210/215?

i have the 12" lencos on my 210 and i chose to not go all the way out to the last chine but dead center on the 2nd from outside. by doing this ,i was able to mount the top of the actuator on the same surface as the bottom rather than on the raised part of the transom. boat responds as good as i could hope with the exception of more turbulent water near the transducer than if they were spaced further out to the edge

If your looking to balance your load I would go with the trim tabs. But if your looking to just get the bow down and get on plane faster, I would go with a Dolphin you can get from the dealer. My brother and I have a 195cc and it works great with the Dolphin. (Cost is about $40 to $60 ) We go offshore to the Channel Islands and it hasn't failed us yet!
Good luck,
Rich

I saw it posted by another member/Triumph owner on another forum here awhile back. Their ad even shows them on the guy's Triumph. I thought it looked really interesting, although I personally have not seen them in use. It might be worth investigating. It solves your head room issue with a bunch to spare. I had a set of Bennetts on a 21' Wellcraft I sold last fall. They were a pain in the butt. I definitely will go electric next time.
