Bottom Paint

I am considering purchasing a 2006 195 with that has bottom paint. What are the benefits of maintaining the bottom paint besides hiding the waterline and fouling of the hull surface? Would it be a bad idea to remove the bottom paint & acid wash the hull? Any experience or advice on this would be greatly appreciated!

If you plan to keep the boat in water, bottom paint will greatly restrict marine growth, both in fresh water and salt water. If you plan to trailer, bottom paint has absolutely NO value.

I have no idea of how to clean off the old paint. You might try water blasting to strip the paint off and then some type of thinner to remove the adhesive.
