Maiden Voyage, 195DC

Well i took delivery of my 195DC today and took it home and installed the GPS/SONAR Combo. Then it was off to Lake Wylie to break that Yamaha 150 in according to Triumph manual and dealer instruction.

Arrived at lake and it started drizzling but there was no way that was going to stop me from cranking that baby up. I cranked and could hardly hear anything.... Big Smile on my face. After no waking out of the cove I took it up to 2000 rpm's for an hour as instructed. HOW BORING! Maxed out at 7.6 MPH for an hour! Arrrgggg!

Finally after an hour it was time to take it up a notch. I figured when I powered up to 3000 rpm that it would reach 12-15 MPH.... WRONG! That puppy planed out and burst up to 26 MPH. Not that fast but after an hour at less than 8MPH it was screaming.

At this point the rain picked up and it cooled off. I played with the trim some and had to make small adjustments to keep it at 3000 rpm. Finally I took it back to the dock to get out of the cold rain. I now have to give it another 10 hours at any speed except full throttle. I cant wait to see what happens at full throttle.

I love this boat, smooth, super quiet and reasonably fast at 3000 rpm.

Roger

A couple of clarifications, I was asleep when I posted this originally so I left out a couple of points. First all speed quotes where taken from my Lowrance 522C GPS Plotter/Sonar Combo. When I compared it to the boats speedo there was a 1.5 MPH +/- difference in the GPS's favor. The boats Speedo is a little slow but close.

The other thing is that I followed the break in suggestions from my Dealer and the Yamaha Manual, not the Triumph Manual. Also after the first 2 hours it says you can drive at any speed for 10 hours BUT DO NOT run at full throttle for more than 5 minutes at a time. I said earlier that you could run at any speed except full throttle and I was mistaken. Sorry.

I am sure this makes no difference to most people but maybe it will help just one person out there.

Roger

Nice and quiet isn't it? Amazing the sound when you turn the key, I had to look at the water pump tell-tail just to make sure she was idling! Do you know what size prop they put on your motor? I have a 14 1/2 x 17 pitch.

Congratulations Roger.

Better watch out, these plastic boats can really get under your skin. Took a few folks for a ride today at nephews 18th birthday party. It seamed like every five minutes I head the same question: Are you sure you never have to wax this boat?

Some people just can not understand.

It's amazing... We already have family and friends lined up wanting a ride. I love to show and tell but it might be a few weeks before I take any one other than wife and kid while I get used to her. We told a friend it was a new plastic boat. He said "Oh I thought you were upgrading". Then he came over and his mouth dropped and he almost got flush. He said he thought we got a paddle boat or something, not a ship! LOL

Well Another phase in the life of my 195DC. I got my Lenco Trim Tabs installed and took it out for a test run. They work great but will take some getting used to. A little adjustment goes a long way. I click it once and wait a few seconds and then adjust more if needed. I only have one concern, I noticed that one side trim indicator lights is not even close to the other side when I have her level. I dont know if I made a small error in the tab istallation and it throws it off or if this is normal for tabs. Is it the norm to have a good bit of difference in the settings?

If You Are Alone Then The Side Of The Boat Opposite You Will Show Down More Than Your Side To Make Up For The Difference In Your Weight On The Drivers Side ---yes They Are That Sensitive. My 210 Will Be Lit Up 3/4 Th The Way Down With Me Alone In The Boat And I Am Only 215 Lbs.
