195DC compass
Hey, just looked on the "what triumph do you own survey", looks like there are (5) of us 195DC owners now. Have any of you extremely enlightened 195DC owners installed a compass on the dash? There's not a whole lot of room there. On the right of the dash (on that one flat area) is where I have my fish finder and small GPS mounted. Any ideas? I feel naked without a compass. I have always mounted my compasses centered over the helm, but the dash is pretty curved up there, with little clearance to the windshield. If any of you have already mounted one, please post a picture. I'd Apreciate it guys.

Compass
I have not yet put a compass on but also interested on the placement. I have put the Garmin 498 sounder and gps on the dash. there is a little space to the left of my unit and was thinking that I would put the compass their ...but it a bit tight

OK, I give up on finding space on or in the dash to mount a compass so I am looking at a windshield mount like an Auto GPS uses. Only problem is that it wont have a light for night use but I can lift a small flashlight up once in a while to see it. Not as cool and high tech as I would like but more practicle. Any feedback? Other ideas? Please speak out, I am up for any better suggestions.

If your interested I have a Ritchey Voyager B-81 lighted bracket compass that I have never used. You could mount it anywhere you could mount the bracket. The compass is lighted so you would be able to see if anywhere you can run a wire too.

Dick, I wish I had somewhere to put that thing. Thats my big delima, where to put it. However I do have a friend at the station that has a cuddy cabin that was looted at the beach. I can ask if he is interested in your compass to replace what he lost. Let me know what you are asking and I will tell him and let ya know if he is interested.
Thanks, Roger

Compass for Dash of 191 F&S
Space is tight but I was able to find a Ritchie compass that was small enough to place on the dash of my 191 F&S directly in front of the boat's steering wheel.
Located to the right of the compass I placed a HumminBird 37 sonar unit. The Humminbird is "GPS ready" and to it I attached a Garmin handheld GPS unit using factory obtained cables. Everything fits and works well and with the Garmin attached to the Humminbird I'm able to ready "tracks" and "waypoints" much easier that I could by looking at the small Garmin screen. The only regret is not getting a color sonar because in some light conditions the glare can make the Humminbird hard to read. I'll try to attach a file showing the dash layout. bill freeman Ocean City, Md. |

Hey Bill,
Thanks for the pic. Looks like your 191FS has about the same helm layout as my 195DC. I was about to put the compass next to my fishfinder on the right side, but that set up you have looks pretty darn good. Thanks again for posting the picture. Ron |
